Hendrik Baskeweg nears completion
30-10-2024
In the morning sun, the imposing buildings on Hendrik Baskeweg look radiant. Realisation of this largest 3D concrete printing project in the world began almost three years ago and now the finishing touches are being put on the final complex.
The project involves the transformation of two dated apartment buildings through 3D printed concrete balconies and widened galleries. The upgrade was carried out in occupied condition, so residents could continue to live at home throughout the project. Worldwide, this is the largest 3D concrete printing project to date and the first time the technique has been applied in this way. This will extend the lifespan of the buildings by 50 years.

In the new book ‘Breaking InNO!vation Barriers’, Theo Voogd of Bruil describes the innovation journey we have taken together and with Movares, Renovum, Woningstichting Den Helder and Pieters Bouwtechniek. For example, unlike in a traditional process, the architect's 3D model is also used to control Bruil's concrete printer, making the production of printed elements completely streamlined.
