't Valkentij realisation agreement signed

27-01-2025

The Municipality of Katwijk and KBM Group have signed an agreement for the realization of 't ValkenTij, a contemporary residential neighborhood on the former Uxem site. With 77 homes, including 58 owner-occupied residences and 19 social rental apartments, the neighborhood will have a harmonious architectural identity. The buildings combine traditional brick architecture with modern details, while green property boundaries and wide sidewalks ensure seamless integration into the environment along the Oude Rijn.

The variety of housing types – from studios and apartments to row houses and detached homes – contributes to a diverse streetscape. Sustainability is central, featuring gas-free homes, solar panels, and high-quality insulation. The car-free design and strategic sightlines enhance the relationship between buildings and the landscape, creating an attractive living environment.

Alderman Gerard Mostert emphasizes the importance of this development: "In addition to addressing the housing shortage, we are focusing on a high-quality living environment." The environmental permit is currently under review, and construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of this year.
