A green oasis in the bustle of Küçükçekmece

For the municipality of Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, Kokon has developed a masterplan for a completely new neighbourhood of approx. 110 ha.

The plan area resides in a very urbanised context. There is little substantial or quality planting available. Central to the plan is a large park, stretching from the existing buildings at the northern edge to Küçükçekmece lake at the southernmost edge. Buildings with a great diversity and range of programme (residential, commercial, office and communal buildings) will surround the park, depending on the requirements, and will be serve as a connecting element for the surrounding neighbourhoods. 

The park will be car-free and will provide a central meeting place, and will be highly accessible, especially for disabled. It will be designed in a sustainable way, with a great diversity of planting and green solutions and possibilities for use.

The buildings that are to be developed will optimally interact with the green central area, and will be designed with regional, contemporary and sustainable architectural features.
