De Hoge Brug
Along the 'Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal' canal, a family of apartment blocks was designed, surrounded by green areas. These are part of the 'Hoge Brug'-plan area.
Every apartment building is has 4 to 6 residential floors on top of a plinth, and contains several types of apartments. The appearance, consistence and detailing of these buildings are based on the traditional Dutch 1930s architecture, with lightly sloped roofs, staggered facades and ornamental striping.
The warm red and orange bricks are combined with brown-grey roof tiles. The horizontal articulation of the facades enhances the small-scale appearance of the buildings.
