Groenendael, Het Balkon
Inspired by the park. At the start of the design process, several challenges were met. Resolving the terrain's level differences was of great importance. The resulting design adresses this issue.
Three separate clusters of homes were created like courtyards within a park. The courtyards are freely oriented, enhancing the park-like appearance of the residential area. Homes have front gardens towards the courtyards and ample rear gardens. By way of slopes, gardens are connected to the park. All gardens and homes are optimally oriented.
The appearance of the plan is completed by the materialisation. A homogenic appearance is achieved by carefully tuning the colours of brick, roof tiles and facade cladding. The earthlike, terra cotta colour brings harmony to homes and park. Addition of aluminium frames adds individuality to each home.
