Kizimkazi Resort
Kizimkazi, located in the Menai Bay Conservation Area in southern Zanzibar, is known for its rich marine life and conservation efforts. This beautiful natural setting is the perfect place for a project focused on healthy living and sustainability, welcoming visitors from around the world and the local community.
This resort is designed to be more than just a luxurious escape. It aims to help guests connect with nature, improve their wellbeing, and embrace sustainable living. The goal is to create a space that refreshes the body, uplifts the spirit, and leaves a positive impact on both the guests and the environment.\
The resort’s design carefully considers the local climate and landscape to create buildings that are strong, sustainable, and in harmony with nature. Some of the existing structures will be repurposed into comfortable resort units and a wellness center, preserving the charm of the area while adding modern features.
The resort’s layout uses a smart, flexible design that works with the land’s natural paths and slopes. This modular approach allows for quick and efficient construction and makes it easy to adjust the number and placement of buildings as needed.
New buildings follow the natural shape of the land, with curved makuti roofs that suit the local climate and blend with traditional architecture. Large, beautifully crafted openings bring in light and showcase the surrounding nature. Other typical design elements that define the architecture in the project are the contemporary arches that take inspiration from the historical Omani presence in Zanzibar.
