Kromhout at the Water

Kromhout at the Water is in a special location on the edge of Dordrecht city centre, overlooking the water of the Vest. On the historic grounds of the former Dordrecht Milk Processing Plant (DMI), 41 sustainable city apartments have been realised.

A lively streetscape

The Kromhout aan het Water design consists of three building blocks, each with its own façade construction. This variation creates a lively appearance that connects the historical character of Dordrecht, 20th-century buildings and modern building styles.

During the development of Kromhout, special attention was paid to the preservation of historical elements: the facing stones of demolished monumental houses were saved and integrated into the porches of the new buildings. This gives the houses a unique character and connects the new with the old in a tangible way.

Housing with a future

The 41 city flats of Kromhout on the Water were designed with sustainability in mind. Modern construction techniques and energy-efficient solutions ensure a comfortable and environmentally friendly living environment. The project offers homes that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also contribute to a more sustainable city.

From dairy factory to residential complex

The Kromhout aan het Water site has a rich history. It was once home to the Dordrecht Milk Factory (DMI), a place that was part of city life for decades. After 16 years of planning and redevelopment, the project was officially handed over by Holtburgh Capital on 19 December 2024. What started as a site with a car park in the plans is now a vibrant residential complex that does justice to the history of the site.
