Manege Rotterdam
The commission for the design of the Rotterdamsche Manege (1937) equestrian facility was awarded to architect Van Tijen.
The club building has a steel structure with white painted brickwork, and an equestrian facilities building of 30 x 18 m, and has stands for 300 spectators, next to a stables building fit for 48 horses and two residential buildings for the manager and administrator.
The complex proves that a stereotypical ‘rustic’ appearance isn’t necessary for this kind of building.
