Pilgrim Church
The monumental Pelgrim Church is just a stone's throw from the old village centre of Zoetermeer. The church was designed by architect B.W. Plooij and built in the early 1930s.
The Gereformeerde Gemeente, client of this project, purchased the church in 2024 to hold its worship services here. In doing so, it set the ambition to restore and preserve the building so that it will remain a suitable building for future generations.
An analysis of the building history and building physics led to an integral restoration and renovation plan to upgrade the church to contemporary standards of use, comfort and indoor climate. The starting point of the urban development plan is to restore the ensemble of which the old presbytery, the church and the new auditorium will be part.
